At The Next Step Tuition, we do things differently. Lessons don’t stop when the video call ends. Every session is built around the latest research in the neuroscience of learning: using techniques such as active recall and spaced repetition to help knowledge stick long-term.
Students don’t just “cover content” - they learn to think like the examiner. We break down mark schemes, practise model answers, and build exam technique so they can walk into the exam or interview with their newly built confidence.
To keep parents and students accountable, I provide a progress report with every piece of homework and paper percentage. Marked tasks are tracked in easy-to-read spreadsheets, showing visible improvement over time. This way, students know exactly what’s working, and parents can see clear evidence of progress week by week.

GCSE & A-Level Science Tuition That Builds Confidence & Results.
Why do so many GCSE and A-Level students find Biology, Chemistry, and Physics so hard?
It’s not because they’re “bad at science” it’s because most lessons move fast, miss the basics, and leave students trying to memorise instead of understanding.
In this video, we break down the REAL reasons students struggle with science… and what the best tutors do differently.
At The Next Step Tuition, we teach students how to untangle confusing topics, build confidence, and finally get science in a way that feels simple, logical, and stress-free.
Here’s why students struggle, and how we help them turn it around:
✔ Lessons often skip foundations ✔ Students don’t know how to revise science properly ✔ They memorise instead of understanding ✔ Schools move too fast ✔ Classrooms are too big for individual support ✔ No personalised study plan ✔ Exam technique isn’t taught clearly ✔ Students lose confidence quickly What we do differently:
⭐ 1–1 expert tuition for Biology, Chemistry & Physics (GCSE + A-Level) ⭐ Proven study process used across exam years 2021–2025 ⭐ Tutor with five medical school offers ⭐ Calm, structured teaching that builds confidence fast ⭐ FREE 30-minute trial lesson - see if you click with the tutor ⭐ Tailored support for exam technique, revision planning, and tough topics
I founded The Next Step Tuition to tackle a problem I saw again and again in schools: students know the content, but fall short in exams because they don’t know how to use it. Too many bright students miss their potential for reasons as small as “not using the key word” or “not being specific enough.” If this sounds like your child, this isn’t a lack of effort - it’s a lack of coaching on exam technique.
I am now a first-year medical student at the University of Nottingham, with over two years of tutoring experience. I achieved A*AAA at A-level (including a full-marks EPQ on the neurobiology of schizophrenia) and ten Grade 9 GCSEs. I also received four medical school offers, including Nottingham, which gives me direct insight into what selective admissions look for and how students can present their very best.
At The Next Step Tuition, I combine subject mastery with examiner-style coaching and measurable progress tracking, so students don’t just learn - they learn how to win marks.

Make sure we are the right fit for you.
To ensure we’re the right fit, we offer a complimentary 60-minute trial session for all new tutoring students. This is a chance to experience the approach, ask questions, and see firsthand how lessons work.
Emmanuel quickly identified where my son was losing marks, not on the knowledge, but on how he was answering the questions.
After a few months, his mock papers went from 5s and 6s to consistent 7s and 8s.
What I really value are the progress updates he sends after homework, so we know exactly what's improving."

Parent, GCSE Science
"
Emmanuel has been brilliant with supporting my daughter with her science GCSE'S. She has learnt so much from his help.
My daughter has only had him for a month now and she has begun to grow her confidence towards her learning."

Sophie
GCSE Science and English Student
"
I used to panic at 6-mark questions in science and longer answer english questions but Emmanuel showed me how examiners actually mark them and gave me step by step methods which made it click for me.
He's also really calm which helped me not stress.
I went from 52% in my mocks to 78% in the summer paper in Chemistry."

Jones R.
A Level Physics
"
My daughter had almost given up on Physics. Emmanuel broke it down step by step and kept linking it back to exam-style questions.
The biggest difference was her confidence, she went from scraping a C to getting an A in her mock."

Medicine Applicant
"
The MMI practice felt like the real thing. Emmanuel made stations that matched my universities, even with role-play and data interpretation.
His feedback was detailed and practical, not just 'you did well'. I felt much calmer going into my actual interviews- and got two offers."

Olivia
Oxbridge Applicant
"
I thought my personal statement was decent until Emmanuel went through it. He pushed me to cut the waffle and show evidence properly. The final version sounded like me but sharper.
I got an interview at Oxford, and my teachers said it was one of the strongest statements they'd read."
